| Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Oxfordshire, England on April 15, 1990. Before auditioning for the part of Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone when she was 10, she performed in school plays such as ‘Arthur: The Young Years’ and ‘The Happy Prince’, with the lead role in both. In 2000 she auditioned for the part of Hermione Granger, not really expecting to get it. “They actually brought me to the studio and sat me down with Rupert and told me ‘You got the part’ and I just sat there going blank for like five minutes until it really sunk in. I was like ‘Oh my gosh, is this a dream? Someone pinch me.”
Currently Emma Watson lives with her mom (Jaqueline) and dad (Chris) who are divorced, along with her younger brother Alex, who says he wants to be just like his older sister. Emma is naturally a blonde, but her hair was dyed brown for the films. She enjoys playing hockey most of all, but also debating.
Emma has two different nicknames: Em and One Take Watson. She received the nickname ‘One Take Watson’ while on the set for the second film, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, because she could do scenes very quickly, most in only one take.
Emma doesn’t think that she’s like Hermione very much. The only trait she says is pretty much the same is “I’m very bossy, like Hermione.” Emma is currently working on the newest Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which will be in theaters November 18, 2005. |
